Event: OffshoreConference, 2005

Topic: Pre-Conference Forum

Synopsis

Practitioners in Asia are facing with unprecedented challenges nowadays. Many of the popular jurisdictions are changing their tax laws and companies legislations, in the name of protecting the un-informed public and the revenue. The result? Practitioners are faced with growing costs of compliance, and the tendency for governments and authorities to over-regulate – under the banner of, inter alia, risk-adverse management strategy for banks, avoidance of tax evasion and anti-terrorist financing.

This pre-conference Forum addressed these issues by reviewing the changes facing us and introducing some new and useful products and concepts. The Forum was designed for local practitioners and leading enterprises in Hong Kong who wish to obtain the latest information about offshore jurisdictions, alternative structuring vehicles and current planning techniques.
